Zoraida Portillo

Profile

Zoraida Portillo is a Peruvian journalist specialized in science communication based on Lima, with substantial experience covering environment, gender and population issues.

Fellow at the Science Journalism Program at the Institute of the Americas at the University of California San Diego and post graduated in Editing at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

She has worked at local newspapers and magazines, international press agencies and international cooperation agencies. For 15 years, she was Writer/Editor and Press Coordinator for International Potato Center (CIP in Spanish). Zoraida began in SciDev.Net as a freelancer in 2004 and currently is the Deputy Editor for Latin America and the Caribbean.

She also works in project design of science communications for developing countries, and giving lectures and leads workshops on science journalism for various public and private organizations.
