Rachel Parker is the senior research advisor for the US Agency for International Development-sponsored Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) programme, which provides grants to developing country-based researchers to collaborate with US colleagues on projects with a focus on science and development.

In August, PEER awardees from Sub-Saharan Africa met in Arusha, Tanzania. At the conference, participants were challenged to present their research projects as if addressing a non-specialist audience.

In this interview, we hear how the PEER programme works and why two of the projects are Parker’s personal favourites.
