<p>Today, open-source <a href="https://www.scidev.net/enterprise/technology/">technology</a> allows scientists to build cheap and reliable weather stations to collect <a href="https://www.scidev.net/enterprise/data/">data</a> in difficult <a href="https://www.scidev.net/environment/">environments</a> such as Africa, where there are currently little. Researcher Adam Gleave explains how gathering accurate information on weather in rural areas will help <a href="https://www.scidev.net/agriculture/farming/">farmers</a> improve their yields and enable scientists to better understand global <a href="https://www.scidev.net/environment/climate-change/">climate</a>.</p>
