Public-health campaigns in the developing world could be made more effective by merging areas such as economics and political science into public-health thinking, according to Richard Klausner, executive director of the global health programme at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Klausner, a former director of the US National Cancer Institute, has met with researchers across Europe and the United States, as part of his campaign to create a new field of ‘global health sciences’.
Fostering connections between institutions in the developed and developing world would be a central part of this new discipline.
