Profile
Nicolás Bustamante Hernández is a Colombian scientific journalist. He has a professional degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and for almost nine years he worked for El Tiempo, a Colombia very important newspaper. He has won several national and international journalism awards, and one of his works motivated a Law of the Republic of Colombia for the conservation of cave ecosystems in the country.
He currently develops scientific communication content and strategies for the Faculty of Sciences at the University of los Andes. He has been a jury member for different science journalism awards and scholarships, such as the Louise Behan Grant, which the WFSJ awards to reporters in low-income countries, and he is co-chair of the Academic Committee for the World Conference on Science Journalism, which will take place in Medellin (Colombia), in 2023. He has started to collaborate with SciDev.Net since 2022 and writes for other national and international media.
