Halima Athumani is a freelance online and broadcast Journalist based in Kampala- Uganda. She started actively working as a reporter in 2010 covering politics, health, human rights and social affairs. In Uganda Halima worked for 93.3 KFM (2006-2009) as a news anchor and Uganda Radio Network-News Agency as a reporter (2010-2014).
In 2016, Halima ventured into Television with her first story being an investigative piece titled “Uganda’s Health Pyramids” with full support from Banyak Films-UK. The Special Investigation Film run on Al Jazeera, People and Power. She has handled special assignments for Public Radio International, BBC, The African Independent- South Africa and podcasts for University of Cambridge.
Halima currently works as a freelance journalist corresponding for Voice of America-Africa desk- (Radio Web, and Television), SciDev.net and The Washington Post.
Halima is a Mass Communication graduate (2010) and specialized in broadcasting at the Islamic University in Uganda, Kampala Campus.
