Samba Sow is a former minister of health for Mali and currently director general of the Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) at the Ministry of Health, Mali. In 2020, he was appointed by the director general of WHO as one of six Special Envoys to WHO on COVID-19, to provide strategic advice and high-level political advocacy and engagement in different parts of the world. He also holds a faculty appointment as professor at the University of Maryland, Division of Geographic Medicine. He has been director of CVD-Mali since its inception in 2001.
