Dr Melanie Abas is Reader in Global Mental Health at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London; Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust; and deputy Director of the Centre for Global Mental Health.  She is known for her work on interventions for common mental disorders in low income countries in HIV-endemic settings, including the Friendship Bench . She is a Principal Investigator on trials of interventions to improve antiretroviral therapy adherence in adults and adolescents living with HIV at high risk of progression to AIDS.
