The cooker designed by Planning Systems Services Ltd helps the community in conservation of the environment since they collect trash from their surroundings.

The residents are then given a chance to cook with the garbage they have collected using the trash as a raw material to run the community cooker. This helps  the community to  manage waste while adopting alternative form fuel other than  wood and kerosene that is costly and usually associated with environmental pollution.

Residents have also adopted biogas that uses human waste. The biogas plant supplies cooking stoves to a nearby school.
