Pakistan set to launch digital library
Pakistan is to launch its first digital library, which will give the country's universities and research institutes access to some 5,000 international journals.
The initiative will make available abstracts of a further 30,000 journals, and is due to be launched next January by Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC).
According to Ata-ur-Rehman, chairman of the HEC, the online availability of these journals will ensure that scientists across the country learn about advancements in world science. He hopes the digital library will help to improve Pakistan's academic standing.
