Indian science minister goes back to work
Indian science minister Murli Manobar Joshi has returned to work after Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee refused to accept his resignation.
Joshi resigned last month after an Indian court charged him of helping to incite a deadly religious riot at the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya in 1992 (see Indian science minister resigns amid riot charges).
The destruction of the Babri mosque prompted riots across the nation, in which more than 2,000 people were killed. Joshi admits that he was present at the scene, but denies that he was responsible for any violence.
