In response to humanitarian crises around the world the BBC offers what have come to be called Lifeline programmes. Becky Palmstrom, a BBC producer, has been involved in making these special kinds of programmes in Burma. The programmes provide information to people caught up in an emergency. For Becky, the personal experience of the devastation caused by Cyclone Nargis, in Burma in 2008, marked a turning point in her career.
