As a child, Carolina Herrera wanted to be an astronaut. Life kept her on earth, but took her around the world fighting one of the most brutal plagues affecting humanity: HIV. After studying in Spain and the United States, she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a career in HIV prevention. Today, she helps develop tools and strategies to protect vulnerable people from contracting the virus.

In this month’s podcast, Herrera walks us through her life journey, explains different approaches to fighting HIV, discusses the stigma that still plagues both developing and developed countries, and recounts the time when one patient was fully cured.
