The Geo-Wiki Project aims to improve the quality of global land cover maps to determine, for example, the potential of additional agricultural land available to grow crops in Africa. A network of global volunteers reviews the accuracy of land-use maps based on their local knowledge and what they see on Google Earth. The results are recorded in a database used to create more accurate global land cover maps.

The website contains instructions on how to use the geo-wiki and provides access to the validation data. It includes information about branches that tackle different themes and lists related projects and data sources.
