African biosciences network must tap talent overseas
As a bioscientist and follower of developments in Africa, I commend NEPAD's launch of a biosciences network (see Southern African network for biosciences launched).
I wish to recommend the network be broadened to tap the expertise and resources currently living and working outside Africa but with strong ties and commitment to the continent.
This is even more pertinent considering the extent to which some of the best African talent has been attracted by lucrative offers to Europe and the United States.
These skilled Africans should form a significant part of the network. I await with interest to see how the network will work, and wish it all the success that it could possibly have.
