Imperial College London, one of Britain’s top research institutions, is seeking funding for seven ‘research-and action’ projects to address critical health and environmental problems in the developing world under a joint initiative with LEAD International, a global network of individuals and organisations committed to sustainable development.

The initiative is a response to calls at last year’s World Summit on Sustainable Development to increase global partnerships for sustainable development.

The proposals, for which funding it being sought from both public and private sources, include projects such as designing an integrated water and sanitation system in a shanty town in Cape Town, South Africa, and research on the effect of waste water on crops in South Asia.
