<p>[LONDON] Today is World Radio Day, when across the globe people will be tuning in to recognise and celebrate the socially transformative power of one of the world’s oldest <a href="https://www.scidev.net/communication/">communications</a> technologies.<br />

In this podcast, Sam Bonham, a trustee of the Children’s Radio Foundation, talks about the organisation’s efforts to train young reporters in Sub-Saharan Africa.<br />
 <br />
The foundation works with schools, community radio stations and local civil society in five Sub-Saharan African countries — the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia — to teach young people how to produce radio programmes on topics that concern and interest them, from sex and HIV awareness to education and politics. This enables them to share their views, encourage debate and drive social change. </p>
