In this podcast, we talk about palm oil and the consumer. We speak to Stefano Savi, global outreach and engagement director of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), on crowdsourcing input from the industry to develop an RSPO trademark app for smartphones.

We then ask Margareth Meutia, footprint campaign coordinator of WWF Indonesia, about their social media campaign, which aims to introduce Indonesian consumers to the importance of sustainable palm oil, and how they can support it through the use of ecolabels.

We also compare public perception of the crop in Australia by talking to Belinda Fairbrother, community conservation manager at Taronga Conservation Society Australia. She tells us about the different outreach efforts to get consumers to understand the nuances of the big palm oil debate, and why boycotts are not the solution.

And finally, we wrap up with Darrel Webber, RSPO secretary-general, who shares a brief history of the RSPO, where it stands today, and why consumers are such an important piece of the puzzle in making the concept of certified sustainable palm oil work.
