The governments of Australia and China signed an agreement this week to collaborate on projects that will reduce emissions of gases linked to global warming. The announcement comes ahead of a major workshop in Beijing next month that will be attended by industry, researchers and non-governmental organisations from both countries.
Australia and China will work together on six projects. These include monitoring emissions from farms with satellite technology and developing national climate change strategy for China (see China 'needs coherent climate change policy').
One aim of the collaboration is to identify ways that farmers in both countries can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and develop farming systems appropriate to a changing environment.
