Overview: GVEP International is responsible for implementing all aspects of Capital Access for Renewable Energy Enterprises (CARE2), a project funded by SIDA. This programme will support the growth of a sustained market for renewable energy, focusing on energy-focused micro, small and medium sized enterprises (e-MSMEs) in East Africa; the objective is to provide a means to drive economic prosperity. The project has three main components, namely a Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), a Loan Guarantee Fund (LGF) and Pipeline Development Projects (PDPs). The specific PDP for Uganda will involve promoting and financing the uptake of clean cook stoves in schools in central Uganda; this project is known in short as PDP1.
