The conservation programme, launched in collaboration with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, will draw on indigenous knowledge and modern land management techniques to find new ways of protecting the environment.
Nine sub-Saharan countries will be covered in the programme: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mali, Namibia, Niger, Senegal, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
