Last week, people across the world celebrated the power of radio to change lives and connect communities. In this audio feature, we talk to those working at the interface of radio, development and human rights about why radio remains the world’s most democratic, versatile and socially transformative medium. From promoting human rights and gender equality, to providing information to farmers and holding governments to account, the views and experiences discussed here illuminate radio’s enduring importance and adaptability in a rapidly changing media landscape.

The interviews were recorded at the World Radio Day trade fair at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, United Kingdom, on 13 February.
