Marine and Coastal Science for Management (MASMA): A new call for concept notes

The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new call for concept notes for projects that address one, or a combination of, identified priority research themes: Vulnerability, Resilience & Adaptation; Coastal Livelihoods; Governance for the Future; Cross-cutting (Ecosystem service research). This call is one of the key components of the MASMA Programme, which is funded by the Government of Sweden. Suitable project proposals falling into any of the four priority research themes, or a combination of them, are invited for submission.

The proposals should be submitted by an Institution, or a Consortium of Institutions. In the latter case, the lead Institution should submit the proposal on behalf of the Consortium. For the purposes of this Call institutions are defined as government departments, research and academic institutions, NGOs, CBOs, or private companies. Grants of up to US$480,000 will be awarded to carry out research in the Western Indian Ocean region and at least two of the following countries should be involved in any of projects: Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Reunion, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, and Tanzania.
