Women play a crucial role in the rural economy, both in developing and developed countries. UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon said: “Empowering rural women is crucial for ending hunger and poverty. By denying women rights and opportunities, we deny their children and societies a better future.” On the International Day of Rural Women, SciDev.Net features Nepalese farmers facing the challenges of climate change.
