Building low-cost tools to bridge the digital divide



Top-class technology does not have to be expensive. To demonstrate this researchers at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy have developed various cheap and replicable technologies. In this audio slideshow, they explain how the low-cost, open-source Wi-Fi and 3D printing technologies they have created offer scientists and people in developing countries the chance to study, research and communicate.
