Keystone Symposia: Maternal-Fetal Crosstalk: Harmony vs. Conflict

Location: Westin Washington, DC City Center, Washington, DC, USA

Organized by Drs. Jeffrey Murray of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Louis J. Muglia of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Yoel Sadovsky of Magee-Womens Research Institute, the four-day conference will:

1) Discuss the latest data on maternal-fetal health and develop a conceptual framework for pregnancy outcomes, including pre-term birth, preeclampsia and growth restriction, while incorporating a balancing strategy for enhancing maternal or fetal health;

2) Present future strategies for determining how individual, but interacting physiologic drivers, including maternal and fetal genotypes, immune systems, microbiomes, metabolomes and other factors, either enhance or compromise pregnancy outcomes;

3) Consider future directions in the field, capitalizing on new technologies, cohorts and concepts in evaluating maternal-fetal interactions during pregnancy.

The conference is part of the Keystone Symposia Global Health Series, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and will be held in conjunction with the 2017 Grand Challenges conference. Global Health Travel Awards are available to investigators from LMICs. Scholarships, requiring submission of an abstract, are available to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows regardless of nationality or country or residence. Short talk speakers will be chosen from all submitted abstracts.
