AfricaLink

AfricaLink, run by USAID, offers technical assistance to regional networks of African policymakers and scientists working in agriculture, natural resource management, and the environment. Specific services offered include access to electronic mail, resource centres and technical support desks, and training programmes for network leaders.

African Academy of Sciences

The AAS is a not-for-profit organisation promoting the growth of scientific and technological capabilities to support development in Africa. Its website outlines each of the organisation's activities including capacity building, training, publication and dissemination of scientific materials, research and development, and advocacy.

African Networks for Health Research & Development

AFRO-NETS is a network of more than 20 health research institutes and networks. It was established in 1997 to facilitate the exchange of information among networks involved in health research for development in Anglophone Africa. It runs an electronic mailing list that acts as a forum for discussion to support collaboration in the fields such as capacity building, planning and conducting research, and transformation of research recommendations. The list also serves as a forum for announcing meetings, training courses and other events of interest to the networks.

African Technology Development Forum

The ATDF provides a place for inventors, business bureaus and technology transfer agents to exchange and disseminate information on innovations, technologies, business opportunities and trends in global trade. It aims to stimulate links between research organisations, industry and government. It also helps organise trade fairs and publishes a free online journal for research on science, technology and innovation for African development.

African Technology Policy Studies Network

The ATPS is a multidisciplinary network of researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in generating, promoting and strengthening innovative technology and industrial policies in Africa. It provides small grants for research on science and technology policy in sub-Saharan countries and disseminates results through publications, workshops, conferences and the Internet. The network also organises training for policymakers, legislators, researchers and leaders in the private sector.

Asian Nuclear Safety Network

This network aims to pool, analyse and share information on nuclear energy as well as practical experience to help improve knowledge and regional cooperation on nuclear safety in Asian countries. It has hubs in China, Korea and Japan, and five national centres in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The website provides information on nuclear power in Asian countries on topics that include waste management, emergency preparedness and education and training. It also publishes newsletters that report on relevant training workshops and meetings.

Fulbright Academy of Science and Technology (FAST)

The Fulbright Academy of Science and Technology is a science diplomacy organisation that aims to improve innovation and enhance education, research and policy through a network of more than 100,000 Fulbright alumni. The organisation provides opportunities for collaboration and networking — from large annual conferences to small select workshops — and hosts collaborative research projects on policy and education.

International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES)

The International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) is an international network that aims to increase the presence of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) decision-making bodies, and to promote the exchange of information, networking, and advocacy among science organisations. The website features a list of members, partners and sponsors. It provides information about programmes and projects, news, events, as well as publications on gender equity including reports and newsletters.

Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization

ISESCO aims to promote the separate and distinct educational, scientific and cultural heritage that combines the 57 OIC member countries. The primary purpose of the organisation is to coordinate the activities of specialist agencies responsible for similar functions within each of the OIC member countries.

ISESCO has helped develop a number of action plans and strategies on an OIC-wide basis in areas such as water resources, university education and Islamic culture. ISESCO has also started awarding prizes in education and literacy, sciences and university research, and culture and communication to individuals within the OIC member countries.

Pugwash conferences on science and world affairs

The Pugwash conferences have a history of active science diplomacy — bringing together scientists and public figures, as individuals rather than government or organisation representatives, to discuss and find cooperative solutions to arms control.

The Pugwash website provides information on upcoming events around the world and links to news, reports and commentary about nuclear weapons control and reduction of armed conflict. The conferences are held annually but the organisation also holds more frequent workshops and symposia on timely topics.

WaterWiki

WaterWiki is an interactive knowledge exchange and collaboration platform for the global water community, which aims to connect professionals to knowledge in the context of the UN system. It provides an online platform for sharing experience and lessons learned, with the overall aim of improving coordination and inter-agency cooperation in the water sector.

The website publishes reports, video, case studies from around the world, as well as links to useful organisations. Users can add new content and edit existing content in real-time.
