This web portal is the starting point for Africa-related biomass information. It contains the latest news on biofuels research on the continent, as well as an events calendar and discussion forum.

Checkbiotech's Green Portal focuses on using biotechnology for a sustainable future. It contains news and features on biofuels research and development in both developed and developing countries.

Articles focus on: how improving production methods with enzymes can increase biofuel yields; key research breakthroughs; how enhancing plant genetics can improve biofuel yields and make agriculture more sustainable; world politics surrounding biofuels; who the key industry players in the biofuels market are; and how biofuels are changing global economics.

Guardian Environment

The Guardian Environment website publishes news and commentary on environmental issues such as climate change, energy, ethical living, food and recycling.

It also provides blogs, job listings and multimedia, including audio and video podcasts. Users can comment and are encouraged to join discussions.

The website also aggregates relevant news from members of the Guardian Environment Network, which brings together the world's best environment websites including SciDev.Net, China Dialogue, Real Science and the World Resources Institute.

Latin America Thematic Network on Bioenergy

LAMNET is a worldwide network of 48 institutions from 24 countries, funded by the European Commission. Its main objective is "to establish a trans-national forum for the promotion of sustainable use of biomass in Latin America and other emerging countries". It offers literature on bioenergy, including publications from journals, newspapers and conference proceedings.

Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE)

This website is an international public–private consortium that provides developing countries with free or low-cost access to environmental science research. It is coordinated by the UN Environment Programme, Yale University, and science and technology publishers.

More than 100 low-income countries can access more than 4,000 peer reviewed titles (as of October 2011) on a wide range of subjects including climate change, renewable energy, forests, natural disasters and water.

Solar Power News

Solar Power News, part of Alternative Energy, publishes news headlines on solar power, syndicated from a variety of sources. It links to websites and videos about solar power and technologies, and hosts a discussion forum on solar photovoltaics.

Solarbuzz

Solarbuzz publishes news and information about solar energy. Its website includes background information on how solar technologies work, industry statistics and reports, and links to solar-related jobs, events and manufacturers.

The Solarserver

The Solarserver publishes news and commentary on solar power. It also links to solar-related events, funding opportunities, organisations and publications, and hosts a bulletin board for messages and job postings. Every month it publishes a 'System of the Month' to highlight solar systems or projects that are making strong progress in developing solar technologies, or improving access to them.

UNEP Risoe CDM/JI Pipeline Analysis and Database

The CDM/JI (Clean Development Mechanism/Joint Implementation) Pipeline Analysis and Database, published by the Risoe Centre CDM — part of the United Nations Environmental Programme — is a monthly newsletter that contains all projects designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the CDM and JI. It contains key information about all CDM and JI projects, their baseline and monitoring methodologies, as well as a list of 'designated operational entities' for CDM and several analyses of certified emission reductions. The website provides access to additional publications including guidance documents and databases.
