Homeopathic arsenic cure is 'silly pseudoscience'

Ian D'Souza

That diluted water 'remembers' arsenic is silly pseudoscience (see Homeopathy may combat arsenic poisoning). Surely, all water on the earth has been in contact with small amounts of arsenic (as well as a myriad of other things). So why wouldn't normal water have produced the same effect as the homeopathic 'cure'? The researchers should look to their methodology instead of proclaiming a 'cure'.

Homeopathy is based on the principle of like cures like, that means the any crude drug substance which produces symptoms related to it will be cured by the same substance in dynamic form (that is when we increase it's potency). The arsenic is not present in water in Dynamic form so it does not cure. Also crude arsenic is in such a minuscule quantity can't even produce symptom of poisoning.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins reported discovering a mechanism that may account for the paradoxical effects of arsenic, which is both a treatment for cancer and a carcinogen. Similarly, there is nothing paradoxical in curative ability of Homoeopathy.

1.Arsenic is a reported to be remarkably effective treatment against a rare form of leukemia. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080416220013.htm

2.Chinese researchers reported that low doses of arsenic trioxide induced remission in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1998/11/981105065953.htm 3.Approximately 81 percent of patients with APL who received arsenic trioxide were alive and remained in remission -- free of leukemia -- three years after diagnosis http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/06/070604123848.htm

These findings demonstrate that Arsenic at molecular levels can treat cancer despite being a carcinogen.

We can have an open mind to any scientific finding. Homoeopathy is propounded by a medical doctor after several years of research and that stood the 'test' of time. May be we have to wait longer to get sound basis.
