"In The Chicago Guide to Communicating Science, Montgomery acknowledges that the training of scientists, unlike higher education in the humanities, has long excluded the formal development of writing, oral presentation, and editing. But he sets out to dispel the notion that scientists are inherently less skilled at the art of communication. … Montgomery may be trying to be too many things to too many scientists, but his endeavours are nonetheless quite valuable. Any reader with the time to ponder and practice this art form will surely learn quite a bit. However, for most scientists, becoming a grand communicator will require a slow acquisition of skills. Montgomery's rhetoric may suggest a revolution is possible, but a laborious transformation is more likely."
