Cloned cattle can be healthy and normal, according to a study that found none of the abnormalities reported in other cloning trials.

Robert P. Lanza from the US company Advanced Cell Technology and colleagues evaluated a cloning experiment involving 110 pregnancies in cows, of which 80 spontaneously aborted and six produced live calves that died shortly after birth.

But 24 cloned cows survived and appear to be healthy; two even gave birth to calves that seem normal in all respects.
