Third World Network

TWN describes itself as "an independent non-profit international network of organisations and individuals involved in issues relating to development, the Third World and North-South issues". It provides significant coverage of biodiversity-related IPR issues.

Traditional Ecological Knowledge - AAAS Project

This is a project of Internet-based documentation concerning the ways that various plant species are used. The website focuses on indigenous knowledge, patents and intellectual property rights. It is run by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

US Patent and Trademark Office

The USPTO website contains very detailed and up-to-date information on the US patent and trademark systems. It also contains a patent database allowing for searches for all patents issued since 1790. Full texts of all patents issued since 1976 can also be downloaded.

World Intellectual Property Organisation

WIPO is a UN specialised agency with 179 member states that administers 23 international treaties dealing with different aspects of intellectual property protection. The website holds useful information about all aspects of intellectual property rights.

World Trade Organisation

The WTO, which has 144 member countries, is the body that monitors world trade agreements. Its website contains a section on the TRIPS agreement, including an introduction, frequently-asked questions, and the full text. It also contains information on TRIPS work within the WTO, and disputes between member states.
