The International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2ie) is a research and training institute specialising in water, energy and the environment. It provides educational facilities to develop research capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship on the African continent, focusing on water and environmental management; solar energy and biofuels; eco-material; and civil engineering. This website, a project of the non-profit organisation Forest Trends, aims to connect water practitioners and policymakers with the goal of scaling-up practices and policies that increase the economic and ecological benefits of watersheds.
It publishes news, analyses and relevant publications; offers access to social media discussions; and provides opportunities to share projects, resources and research — particularly on payments for watershed services and water quality trading. It includes an online global inventory of water-related projects.
