Botswana follows Brazil’s lead to stop HIV

Katie Mantell

7 January 2002 | EN

Botswana is to copy a Brazilian strategy for reducing HIV transmission by making interactive television programmes to help teachers talk to children about potentially sensitive HIV and AIDS issues.

The project, which will start in February, will bring Brazilian experts to Botswana to help produce the programmes, which will be broadcast in both English and Setswana.

The African Comprehensive HIV and AIDS partnership, the United Nations Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme are financing the initiative.
