The Africa Portal, part of the larger Africa Initiative project, is an online resource for policy-related issues in Africa, covering climate change, food security, energy and health, among other areas. It is published by the Centre for International Governance Innovation; Makerere University, Uganda; and the South African Institute of International Affairs. The website offers an open access publications library with more than 3,000 books, journals, and digital documents available online or to download. The Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) plays an important role in reducing deforestation in the Amazon Region. Part of the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University, United Kingdom, Climate Lite publishes briefings and short films on climate change and international development.

This network was developed by a German company, Ecofys, upon the initiative and with support from the Federal Environmental Agency of Germany and the European Commission. The Global Canopy Programme (GCP) is an alliance of over 30 scientific institutions in 19 countries that work on forest canopy research, education and conservation. HEDON is an online forum dedicated to household energy efficiency in the South. It aims to build a network of practitioners, policymakers, funders, and business-owners to collect and disseminate information on local, national, regional and international energy efficiency initiatives in the household energy sector.

HEDON publishes a journal, Boiling Point, with freely available archives dating back to 1982 as well as information on key topics, including forestry, gender, climate change and policy. It also publishes relevant news, events and announcements.

The IISD is a Canadian policy research institute that publishes books, papers and policy briefs on issues affecting sustainable development such as climate change, governance and natural resources. The IISD Reporting Services focuses on environmental issues and publishes news and event coverage as well as the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (see ENB). The organisation also runs the Climate-L.Org blog and hosts a number of networks, including the Trade Knowledge Network and the Sustainable Coffee Partnership.

Mongabay.com is an environmental science and conservation news site, founded in 1999 and run by environmental journalist Rhett A. Butler. Its content focuses on tropical forests, including in-depth information and facts and figures on deforestation and forest degradation. Progress on proposals for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) is regularly reported and analysed.

Mongabay.com is published in several languages, including English, Chinese and Spanish. A 'kids version' is also available to help educate children about rainforests.

REDD-Monitor, an independent site run by environmental journalist Chris Lang, provides news and views about reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD). Lang aims to document the global development of REDD projects by publishing information on who is establishing projects and how they are being implemented. REDD-Monitor features a broad range of links to other organisations, as well as information on upcoming events.

The Stockholm Environment Institute is an international not-for-profit research organisation that aims to promote sustainable development through scientific analysis that supports decision-making on the national and international level.
